Tired of the takeaway and tv dinner because you’re worried the kids won’t go for fresh sashimi or steak? We get you – it can be hard eating out with the little monsters, which is why we’ve gathered our favourite family friendly restaurants in Port Macquarie so you can enjoy your meal while they enjoy theirs. From casual to classy eats, here’s where to dine with the fam.
While we associate 7am on a Saturday with sleep, the kids can be less predictable – which is why we’re grateful for LV’s early openings every day. Whether you’re after brekkie or a farm-to-plate brunch, you can count on a fresh feed every day. With kids faves like pancake dippers with nutella and watermelon pizza, you won’t mind if they can’t finish your meal, because it’s all the more for you.
Once you’re done exploring the Sea Acres Rainforest Centre, head to The Rainforest Café where your little monkeys will be feasting on everything from French toast and pancakes to beef snags and battered fish n chips. They’ve also got a book corner where you – sorry, the kids – can sit and colour in (but honestly, we’d be getting in on that action too). It’s a great family friendly cafe in Port Macquarie.
Little Fish is perfect for the little ones. Treat the kids to pizza, beef nachos or bolognese and let them tire themselves out on the grass while you sit outside with a glass of local red overlooking the stunning vineyard (Pssssst: more on local wineries here!)
Catch up with the extended family while catching live entertainment and pub eats at Port Macquarie’s favourite family friendly restaurant. The kids will be set for the arvo thanks to an awesome playground plus loads of toys and games – but we haven’t forgotten about you: spend the afternoon with oysters, lamb kofta and jugs of elderflower mint cooler.
Just because the youngins are joining you doesn’t mean all hope of a decent meal goes out the window and you’re stuck eating their leftover spag bowl. Enter Blue Water, the lavish answer to family dinner in Port Macquarie. Sit back and indulge in fresh seafood while the kids enjoy tasty eats made just for them, plus a playground.
Warm up this winter with Mega Mugs of hot chocolate by the fireplace at Zebu. You’ll say farewell to your flat white too – these babies come with supersized blow torched marshmallows and whipped cream. Bonus points: they can run off the sugar on Town Green afterwards.
Sip Botero coffee and grab some tasty eats from this leafy outdoor restaurant, or snack on breakfast burgers or a Beantree steak sandwich. Check out their wine and beer menu for some of the best drops this side of the world, and as for the kids, let them eat cake – or mango and coconut bread.
The days of our playground adventures may be well gone, but we’ll be damned if we can’t live vicariously through our children – which is why Settler’s Inn is the prime spot to settle in with a pint and burger while they climb around a playground that makes our inner kid green with envy.
With feeds this good, the whole family will be satisfied.
